A couple of Palmate Newts seen in our pond at Martin's Haven yesterday. It feels pretty early (especially how cold it was inland at Llandeilo last night) but, checking my records, around here we generally see the first newts by the end of January: they are really very hardy!
We certainly have newts in our pond, although if they are early or not, I don't know.
