could this have been a FIN WHALE ?

I have an unusual sighting which I cannot identify.
Perhaps someone has an idea as to what it could be.
It must be at least the length of several fishing boats and it remained in the area for at least 30 mins before it 'disappeared'. The subject was seen a few weeks ago, in the Irish Sea some way off the Pembrokeshire coast. The photo's were taken from our house - the distance being about 10 miles away.  As yet, we have not been able to identify it - whatever it may be.

Peter Byles my neighbour, who usually has a good idea about things, thought that it could perhaps be a minky whale or a submarine.

  1. Strange, interested to know what it could be, do sun fish grow that large?

  2. thank you Michael for your welcome response. I have no idea if they can grow so big. the photo was taken from way above Ceibwr Bay and that is Fishguard/Goodwich in the background, so there is a lot of sea in between - it was a long way away. do you have any other ideas?

  3. A basking shark might be a possibility to consider?
