Land hopper

I thought you may be interested in the Land Hopper photo and record that I sent to the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales, so here it is.

 

Species: Land Hopper - Arcitalitrus dorrieni. An Australian terrestrial amphipod now established in a few damp frost-free sites in S.W.England and South Wales.

Location: Pennar, Pembroke Dock. SM 962024. Four found in damp detritus beneath 2 month old prunings in a garden. 30 metres above sea level. 250 metres from tidal water.

Date: 6.9.2012.

The specimen was a dark grey colour while alive, before it dried out.
