As the weather is slowly warming up, hedgehogs are starting to come out of hibernation. Some are very thin and weak, some are ill. If you see a hedgehog out in the day, it is almost always ill and it needs to be brought indoors, put in a high sided box, kept warm and fed meaty dog or cat food and some water. This should keep it alive until you can contact myself so it can be admitted to the Hogspital.
As people will be keen to sort out their gardens, please be careful when strimming and grass cutting as a variety of small animals live in the long grass and these injuries are devastating. Hedgehogs also live in compost heaps so, before ramming a fork in, have a check around.

Sorry to be "hogging" the blog at the moment but I am being driven to use slug pellets. Those with Methaldehyde are lethal to everything, the "Organic" ones containing ferric phosphate are no safer and can still kill your dogs, cats and toddlers as well as wildlife. I shall be taking both ends off my empty dog food cans, squashing them enough so wildlife cannot enter them and filling them with the pellets then leaving them near my affected plants. This is a very long article but I think it contains very important information if you can bear to read it.

You have to look out for those adorable little creatures of pembrokeshire. Some gorgeous Pembrokeshire wildlife that needs looking after.
