Common Plume Moth.

On 14th January 2014 I saw a Common Plume Moth (Emmelina monodactyla) in flight in a garden in Pembroke Dock. Although they can be found at all months of the year, I was surprised to see one so early.
They are associated with Convolvulus, but there was not any bindweed nearby.

I cannot find any records for them in Pembrokeshire even though there appears to be ideal habitat. Have they just been overlooked? Are they common in Pembs?

  1. They are pretty common in Pembs. Dennis though as you say January is an early date.

    1. Thanks Mike.
I shall keep an eye that link. I live in Southampton and I have a copy of Moths of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight book which has a systematic list and maps. I shall be interested to see how the two areas compare.
