Fishy tale...
We (Sea Trust ) have been using some fish traps to survey fish and crustaceans in Fishguard Harbour for several months and have recorded quite a few species in this time. I pulled out one trap this afternoon and it seemed pretty heavy. As it s contents became visible I got quite a shock! inside the relatively small trap was this conger eel. After something of a struggle I managed to empty it onto the floor of a nearby boat so I could photograph it . The width of the dorys deck must be about four feet . The eel was at least that long! The real fun bit was picking it up and returning it to the sea, amazingly I managed to do so with no injury to it or me!
