a squirrel busy in the sunshine - december 2012

the sun shone onto this little fellow this morning - otherwise I might have missed him.
he was some way away from where I was but I have managed to put him in the picture.
a grey squirrel eating masses of red berries and darting up and down, and in and out of a heavy laden hawthorn bush. he was like elastic, stretching and turning all over the bush.
several ravens and other birds took an interest in him but he just ignored them. too busy eating.
no wonder my hawthorn bushes in the orchard are already bare!
amazing to see his red head and the markings on his back and tail. lovely white tummy.
I was surprised by the red colouring.
