Last night, during the very heavy rain, we drove from Martin's Haven to Marloes. Between Martin's Haven and Trehill Farm the road was covered with (almost all adult) toads: easily 50 in the middle of the road, and more in the verges. On the way back, 3 hours later, and after the rain had stopped, we still saw over a dozen, again stopping the car repeatedly to move the toads off the road.
I have never seen so many toads, and thought this wonderful behaviour outside the breeding season (when toad crossings can be a local phenomenon elsewhere).
